RE: Travel Trailer inside storage ideas?

This may sound a little simplistic - but make sure everything has a place. Avoid cramming everything anywhere it will fit. Think about what you need and choose to bring it, rather than just bringing everything you might need. Edit your stuff. Having said that, I love plastic bins. We use stackable bins as "dressers," a bin for pots and pans, an "outside bin" holding bug spray, lantern, poncho and other outdoor items and even sliding bins for food storage. We bought inexpensive bins from a home improvement store and I think a couple of them came from Walmart. Congrats on your new trailer. Have fun!

RE: Need HELP looking for.........

Sorry for the second post, but: I just looked at the Road Runner website. They have a 24' queen with bunks. The bottom bunk is a double and the top bunk is 30". Very useable space. A nice floor plan! It is 8' wide (wider than usual). No slides. See the XT 24 BH floor plan at http://www.sunvalleyinc.com/products/4/floor-plans#2 (sorry, you'll have to cut and paste. I don't know how to make a link.)

RE: Need HELP looking for.........

You might try looking at the Fun Finder and Road Runner floor plans. Fun Finders: www.shadowcruiser.com Road Runner: www.sunvalleyinc.com Both have a variety of floor plans under 24'. A couple have a slide dinette. A couple have bunks. The Road Runner 252QBS has a slide queen and bunks. I think it is a new model, because I couldn't find the specs on their website. I suspect it is 26' (or 25' interior). Good luck!

RE: The Special Joys of Small Trailers....

Glad you had a great summer. We love our small trailer. We have a 13' Road Runner and many people stop by for "a look" inside. We eat and lounge outside. We can fit anywhere that a pop-up trailer can fit. It really fits our needs.

RE: How long are you going to keep your current travel trailer?

We've only been camping/rv'ing for about 4 years. We started with a pop-up. We bought it very used and it lasted one season. Then, we bought a friend's pop-up. It was in GREAT condition, but after the second season I knew I wanted a hardside trailer. For our 3rd season, we bought our 13' Road Runner (yes, our third camper in three years). It is small, light, and fun, fun, fun. I think it is the PERFECT camper for two. We've been using that little beauty for two years. A few months ago, we learned our daughter is pregnant (our first grandbaby!!). I just bought the most adorable infant sized T-shirt that says "happy camper." Remember I said that trailer is perfect for two....

RE: SMALL TT FOR MY FOLKS

It's hard to recommend a trailer without knowing a little about how they want to use the trailer. I think most mainstream, traditional travel trailers are as user friendly as the next. When you get into the more specialized type TT's (aliner, hi-lo, hybrid), then there is some user set-up involved. Fun Finder and Road Runner have nice 18' models with a walk around queen bed. Fiberglass eggs (Casita, Scamp, Oliver, Escape) are generally very solid little campers. Little is an important word in that sentence. Bigfoot usually gets very high marks on these boards. They also have a big price tag. I know that the 17' model has very small beds. Then, there is always Airstream. Very big price tag, very good trailer. Good luck finding the perfect trailer!

RE: After 2 years of research, I'm still lost

Well, you really got your money's worth of answers! You're definitely over thinking it. You might consider buying a used trailer - it will cost a lot less than a new trailer. Then, if you totally blow it and make a HORRIBLE choice, you won't feel so bad when you go buy your next trailer.

RE: Tabbert Paganini--would it sell in the US?

Really beautiful! I love the Euro-styling. Unfortunately, I have an American body and those little beds are just TOOOO little.

RE: TT why would you want one?

I'm glad you're having fun in your new trailer! For me, I don't consider myself "camping" in my trailer; I think I'm "RV'ing." In my head, camping is packing in your own gear and hiking off deep into the woods. It is a very solitary experience. I've only "camped" a couple of times in my life. I enjoyed it, but the amount of work involved was crazy. RV'ing, or campground camping, is really just sleeping in the park! I love it. I get to have a campfire AND a hot shower. I get to hike on a trail, then come back to a real bathroom. I guess there is room for both kinds of experiences! Camp/RV on!

T@B Question

For anybody who owns a T@B trailer with the indoor kitchen: Do you bang your head on the overhead cabinets when using the stove/kitchen area? I have heard that complaint. I know it is hard to be objective about a trailer that you paid big bucks for and are "stuck" with, but ... Are you satisfied? Do you wish you'd have gotten a bigger trailer? I know the fiberglass eggs are not that heavy, so they would be another option for a T@B owner. I'm not in the market to buy a trailer, but I just love the look of those little T@B's. If ever I need another trailer, I wouldn't mind going even small than what I have know - which is a 13' Road Runner. Thanks!

RE: 17 foot Playmor

Hello neighbor. I don't have any experience with a Playmor. I would suggest you check the trailer over carefully - looking for leaks, evidence of leaks, soft floors, etc. You don't mention how old the trailer is. Travel trailers don't hold there value very well. If it is more than a few years old, then it might not be worth $7500. Will Hill Top wheel and deal? Offer slightly less than what you think the trailer is worth and start a negotiation. In this market, they might be happy to get a sale.

RE: Largest Bed

I love this question. In my opinion, beds that are too small is one of the biggest problems with small TT's. Several of the 13' travel trailers, such as Fun Finder, Road Runner (which I own) and Cikira have a queen size bed/dinette. Interestingly, when you go up to the 16' model, the beds get smaller. On our Road Runner, we always have the dinette in bed mode. We eat outside (under the awning if it's raining). These three trailers are "traditional" travel trailers, with grey and black water holding tanks and indoor bathroom. The Casita fiberglass egg has a 16' model with a king size bed (I can't remember if it is the Liberty or the Spirit model). I believe these can come with an optional Marine toilet. The smaller 13' Casita and Scamp have a 48" "double" bed. Really a tight squeeze for two adults. Trailers that are not self contained include the T@B and the Aliner. Both of these have a queen size bed model. Good luck on finding the perfect trailer!!

RE: Camping Etiquette

Keep your campsite clean (especially in bear country); Don't clean fish in the public bathroom sink; Don't leave a campfire unattended; Respect quiet hours and respect those who make noise (sometimes lots of noise) during NON quiet hours.

RE: How small a TT can you find?,, How about one that is 8"

Hey - no dis'ing the Taylor Coach! I haven't seen one myself (I own a huge 13' trailer), but they look like nice little trailers. I've heard they are built like tanks and last forever. It's nice that during the era of the monster 30' travel trailer/mobile home, this company was still building small, reasonable travel trailers. They'll also customize the trailer for handicap and other needs! You rock Taylor Coach!

RE: Between Here and There

More great suggestions. Thank you! I really like the idea of a USFS campground. I was noticing there were NO showers (hot or cold) in the GSM national park sites. We prefer a public campground for the lower cost and better scenery, so USFS may be just the thing for us.
